Washington: US President Joe Biden’s campaign team has stressed that he is not backing down from contesting the election. There are many top-level leaders in the Democratic Party who want Biden to consider how to step down from the 2024 presidential election to make way for a new candidate so that the party can be saved from massive losses in November. Biden has insisted that he can defeat Republican Party candidate Donald Trump.

Biden campaign chairwoman Jen O’Malley Dillion acknowledged the president’s “decline” in support, but stressed that he would “absolutely” stay in the race and that the campaign team sees “many ways” to defeat Trump. “We have a lot of work to do to convince the American people that yes, he is old, but he can win,” she told MSNBC’s Morning Joe.

Dillion said voters worried about Biden’s ability to lead are not going to vote for Trump. “They have questions, but they will stay with Biden,” she said. Meanwhile, the Democratic National Committee’s rule-making branch may meet on Friday. Chris Coons, Senator from Delaware and Biden’s closest friend in the US Congress and co-chairman of his campaign, said, “President Biden deserves to have important family conversations with caucus members, caucus members and colleagues in the House and Senate, and allies in the Democratic leadership, rather than dealing with leaks and press statements.” Most members of the Democratic Party think that Vice President Kamala Harris herself would prove to be a good President.
