Blasphemy case registered against Muslim women in Pakistan, know what is the charge

Lahore: A blasphemy case has been registered against two Muslim women for burning pages of the Quran in Pakistan’s Punjab province. Police gave this information on Tuesday. On the complaint of a local Imam Kashif Ali in Rai Kalan village of Kasur district, about 50 km from here, a case has been registered against Shahnaz Khan, principal of a private school, and her cook Shazia Karamat under section 295-B of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Police officer Khalid Salim told PTI that after Kashif Ali announced from his mosque that they (women) had burnt pages of the Quran on Saturday, both the women and their families fled the village. He told that a large number of police force had also reached there to prevent any untoward incident. He told that Shahnaz Khan had hidden before the attacking mob reached her house and school.

Christian sisters also accused
Earlier last week, Punjab police said they had registered a case against two young Christian sisters on charges of blasphemy. Samia Masih and Sonia Masih, both in their 20s, had allegedly thrown a sack full of Quran pages outside their house in Gojra in Toba Tek Singh district, around 200 km from here, on August 7. Meanwhile, Advocate Akmal Bhatti, president of the ‘Minority Alliance Pakistan’, said the charges of desecration against the Christian sisters were false.
