Changing situation in Bangladesh, Indian Visa Center in Dhaka resumes ‘limited operations’

Dhaka: After the violence and coup in Bangladesh, the situation is now slowly returning to normal. The Indian Visa Application Center here has resumed ‘limited operations’ on Tuesday. In a press release, the Indian Visa Application Center (IVAC) has announced the resumption of limited operations at its Dhaka center. The press release said, “IVAC (JFP) Dhaka has resumed limited operations. Messages will be sent to individual applicants regarding collection of passports.” It has requested applicants to come to the center only after receiving a text message to collect their passports. It said, “Due to limited operations, the process may take longer. We expect you to understand this.”

According to the news of Samay TV news channel, last week IVAC had announced the closure of all visa centers in the country till further notice due to the unstable situation after the fall of the Hasina-led Awami League government. According to the Dhaka Tribune newspaper, the national emergency hotline service has been restored from Tuesday. From Monday, police officers returned to various police stations and traffic policemen also returned to work.

560 people killed in violence

A news portal named ‘BDNews24’ said in its report that the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education has also directed primary schools to resume classes after a month of closure. More than 230 people were killed in Bangladesh in violent incidents that erupted across the country after the fall of the Hasina government on August 5, taking the death toll to 560 since the anti-reservation protests began in mid-July.
