After this, Sheikh Hasina had to leave the country and she resigned from the post of PM. After this, the US was accused of involvement in this coup in Bangladesh. But now the US has termed those allegations as ‘ridiculous’ and ‘false’, in which it is said that it was behind the removal of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from office.

Hasina blames US for Bangladesh crisis, leaked statement reveals

Hasina left the country after resigning from the post of Prime Minister on August 5 after widespread protests against her government over the controversial reservation system in jobs. After Hasina’s expulsion, an interim government has been formed in Bangladesh under the leadership of Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus. Vedant Patel, the principal deputy spokesperson of the US State Department, said on Tuesday, “This is ridiculous. Any allegation that the US had a hand in Sheikh Hasina’s resignation is completely false.”

This was America’s response to the allegations of removing Hasina
When Vedant Patel was asked about Hasina’s allegation that the US was behind the massive protests that led to her ouster from power after several weeks of violence, Patel said, “We have seen a lot of misinformation in recent weeks, and we are incredibly committed to strengthening the privacy of information in the digital ecosystem, especially with our partners in South Asia.” The US said on Monday that it would continue to monitor the situation in Bangladesh and stressed that President Joe Biden would continue to express his views clearly on human rights issues.
