India will host the third ‘Voice of Global South’ conference in digital format on August 17, which aims to work towards a sustainable future for developing countries. The summit will serve as a platform to take forward the discussions held in previous conferences on complex challenges such as conflict, food and energy security crisis and climate change. More than 100 countries from the global south participated in the previous editions of the summit.
The Ministry of External Affairs said, “India will host the third ‘Voice of Global South’ summit on August 17. The theme of this summit will be an empowered ‘Global South’ for a sustainable future. ‘Global South’ refers to least developed countries. The statement said, “This unique initiative has started as an extension of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas’ and it is based on India’s philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (the world is one family).”
PM Modi hopes for peace in Bangladesh
Before this program, on the occasion of Independence Day, PM Modi expressed hope that the situation in Bangladesh will improve soon. He also said that India will always be a well-wisher and friend of Bangladesh. The government has fallen after a widespread movement in Bangladesh and despite the formation of an interim government, the violence continues in India’s neighboring country. Hundreds of people have died and the violence is still not stopping here. The most affected are the minority Hindus of Bangladesh.
