New Delhi: As the voice of the Global South, India has once again put the basic problems of neglected countries before the world. This has further strengthened the trust in India in the countries of the Global South. Prime Minister Narendra Modi once again expressed concern over the effects of global uncertainties in developing countries, especially in the areas of food and energy security. In his opening speech at the third ‘Voice of Global South’ conference, PM Modi assured the participating countries of India’s unwavering commitment to provide full support in various important areas including the digital public infrastructure sector. India hosted this conference digitally.
The Prime Minister said, “Today we are meeting at a time when there is an atmosphere of uncertainty all around. The world has still not completely come out of the effects of Kovid-19. On the other hand, the state of war has created challenges for our development journey. He said, “We are not only facing the challenges of climate change, but now there are concerns about health security, food security and energy security as well.” The Prime Minister also mentioned the challenges of terrorism, extremism and separatism. He said, “Terrorism, extremism and separatism continue to pose a serious threat to our society.”
New economic and social challenges related to technology are emerging
Modi said, “Technology divide and new economic and social challenges related to technology are also emerging. Global governance and financial institutions established in the last century are unable to face the challenges of the current century.” Modi said that the ‘Voice of Global South’ conference has become a platform to discuss development related issues. He said that under India’s leadership in G20, we created an agenda based on the expectations, aspirations and priorities of the ‘Global South’.
