After the Badlapur incident, the Maharashtra government has issued a directive for all schools. After the incident of sexual abuse in a school here, the Maharashtra government on Wednesday issued a directive to all the schools in the state to install CCTV cameras in their premises within a month. This order has been issued by School Education Minister Deepak Kesarkar.
This action can be taken for not following the order
The order issued states that non-compliance of the order can lead to serious consequences like cancellation of permission to operate. Protests have taken place in many parts of the state after the alleged sexual abuse of two girls in a school in Badlapur near Mumbai. A school employee has been arrested in this case.
‘CCTV footage should be checked at least three times a week’
The order said, “All private schools in the state are required to follow the new guidelines of the department, under which it is mandatory to install CCTV cameras at appropriate places in the school premises. Failure to comply may result in action like stopping financial grants or cancelling the school’s operating permit.”
The order said that CCTV footage should be checked at least three times a week and if any worrying incident is recorded in the camera, it will be the responsibility of the principal to contact the police.
