US Election: Kamala Harris formally accepted the Democratic Party’s candidacy for the presidential election

Chicago: The excitement about the presidential election in America is increasing. Kamala Harris will contest against Donald Trump from the Democrats in the election itself. Vice President Kamala Harris has accepted the Democrats’ candidacy at the Democrats National Convention. During this, she vowed to become the president of all Americans. Harris said in her address that she is committed to a “peaceful transfer of power”. After accepting the candidacy, Kamala Harris has become the second woman leader of the Democratic Party to become a presidential candidate.

Kamala Harris said that she will become a president who will unite the people of the country. She said that the upcoming presidential election is an opportunity to create a new path. This is a chance to move forward not as a member of any one party or faction, but as Americans.

‘I accept the candidacy’

Harris said, “On behalf of the people, on behalf of every American, regardless of party, race, or language, on behalf of my mother and all those who started their impossible journey, on behalf of the Americans with whom I grew up, who work hard, pursue their dreams and take care of each other, on behalf of all those whose story can only be written in the greatest nation on earth, I accept the candidacy.”

Harris (59), who came on stage to accept the candidacy at Chicago’s ‘United Center’, said that impossible journeys are nothing new for her. Harris said that her opponent Donald Trump is not a calm and serious person. Expressing her commitment to support Ukraine in the war with Russia, she said that if she is elected President, she will stand firmly with Ukraine and its allies of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). Harris’s mother Shyamala Gopalan was Indian and her father Donald Jasper Harris was a Jamaican citizen. If Harris is elected, she will be the first woman president of America.
