Even though polio has been completely eradicated in India decades ago, neighboring country Pakistan is still struggling with this disease. In the latest incident, 9 cases have been reported in Pakistan. Today, when the ninth case of polio was reported in Pakistan this year, there was a stir. Pakistan’s efforts to eliminate this serious disease have suffered a major setback due to the polio patients being reported continuously.
According to a report by Geo News, this case of polio came to light in Zhob district of Balochistan province. According to the news, a one and a half year old child of Hasanzai of Zhob area of the province has been affected by polio. Prime Minister’s coordinator on National Health Services, Dr. Malik Mukhtar Ahmed said that this year nine children in the country have been affected by polio virus. Ayesha Raza Farooq, who works in the field of polio eradication, advised people to give polio drops to their children.
Anti-polio campaign being run in Pakistan
Ayesha Raza Farooq said that more doses of medicine are needed to prevent polio. Muhammad Anwar ul Haq, coordinator of the National Emergency Operations Center for Polio Eradication, said that the Government of Pakistan has run six anti-polio campaigns this year. Therefore, everyone must give polio drops to their children and support this campaign of the government. He said that this virus can be fought only with the cooperation of the people with the government.
