China’s aircraft carrier burns to ashes near the Yangtze River in Jiangsu province, was decommissioned 29 years ago

Beijing: A massive fire broke out in an aircraft carrier near the Yangtze River in Jiangsu province of China. Due to this, it started burning fiercely. High smoke and flames started rising at the spot. This created panic among the people nearby. This accident happened during the disposal of the aircraft carrier. Suddenly the ship caught fire. It is being told that this aircraft carrier was decommissioned 29 years ago. The incident is being reported on Friday afternoon.

According to the information, the incident took place in an industrial area near the river in Nantong city. There are no reports of casualties and the fire was largely extinguished on Saturday. State news agency ‘Xinhua’ quoted local officials as saying that the cause of the fire is being investigated. This aircraft carrier named ‘Minsk’ was brought to Nantong in 2016. Earlier, it stood in Shenzhen city of Guangdong province in South China for many years. After being decommissioned in the year 1995, this aircraft carrier was sold to a company of the Republic of Korea.

After keeping this aircraft for a long time, the Korean company resold it to a Chinese company, which made it a part of a military theme park in Shenzhen. Earlier, the Nantong Industrial Zone had said that it would start renovation work on the ship in March. The Nantong Industrial Zone aims to open a national defense center on the ship by October 1.
