Pakistan's jailed former PM Imran Khan says 'army should apologise'

After Imran’s arrest, supporters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) held nationwide protests and riots broke out. This caused damage to civilian and military establishments across the country. Army spokesman Major General Ahmed Sharif had said on May 7 this year that any talks could take place with the PTI (Imran’s party), provided the party apologized for its “politics of anarchy”. After this statement, there was a demand from various sectors that Khan’s party should apologize for the “Black Day” violence.

Statement given in Adiala Jail
According to the report of Dawn newspaper, while talking to the media in Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi on Saturday, Khan said in response to a question that there is no reason to apologize for the violence of May 9. He said that he was arrested by Rangers led by a Major General from the Islamabad High Court complex. Khan said that on the contrary, the army should apologize to him because he was “abducted” by the Pak Rangers on the day of violence.
