Vientiane (Laos): Indian Foreign Minister Dr. S Jaishankar held an important meeting with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in Laos today. During this, the India-China border dispute was discussed between the two countries. Let us tell you that the dispute over the Line of Actual Control has been a major issue in India-China bilateral relations. Dr. S Jaishankar told Wang Yi that the India-China border dispute is the main factor in the way of restoring relations between the two countries. He said that the situation on the border will inevitably reflect on the state of our relations.

During this, Foreign Minister Jaishankar and Wang Yi agreed to give strict guidelines regarding disengagement on the border (reducing the number of troops on the border by both sides). Along with this, there was also talk of ensuring respect for the previous agreements on LAC. Dr. Jaishankar said that stabilizing our relations is in the mutual interest of both the countries. Therefore, the issues of the current dispute should be considered with a sense of urgency.

He wrote that today he met CPC Politburo member and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Vientiane. During this, the ongoing discussion about bilateral relations was continued. Also, talks were held on the situation of the border, as it inevitably reflects on the state of our relations.

He said that there was agreement on the need to take strong steps to complete the disengagement process on the LAC. Along with this, talks were held to ensure full respect of previous agreements. Jaishankar said that it is in our mutual interest to stabilize our relations. We have to consider the issues of the current dispute with a sense of urgency.
