India Help for Palestine Refugees: The Government of India has come forward to help Palestine refugees. The government has released the first installment of US $ 2.5 million to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) as part of its annual contribution of US $ 5 million for the year 2024-25.

Earlier, India had reiterated its historic and unwavering commitment to a peaceful resolution of the Palestine issue and supported the “two-nation solution” through dialogue. India’s Ambassador-at-Large and Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations R. Ravindra made this statement at a conference of the United Nations Agency for Palestine Refugees last Friday (12-07-2024). He said, “India has always supported a two-nation solution through dialogue, which can lead to the establishment of a sovereign, independent and capable Palestinian state.”

While presenting India’s stand at the conference of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), he had said that India has taken a principled stand on the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza and has strongly condemned the casualties of civilians, especially women and children.

India’s Ambassador-in-Charge and Deputy Permanent Representative R. Ravindra had said that the role of UNRWA remains important in reducing difficulties. He said that India has been a reliable partner for the people of Palestine. He also said that India is providing scholarships to 50 Palestinian students for undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral studies in various educational institutions of India. He said that India is also providing medicines to UNRWA on its special request.
