Israeli army gets big success, rescues a hostage kidnapped in Hamas attack

Jerusalem: The Israeli army said on Tuesday that it has rescued an Arab citizen who was among those kidnapped in the Hamas attack on October 7. The army said that 52-year-old Qaid Farhan Alkadi was rescued “during an operation in the southern Gaza Strip”. Hamas-led terrorists kidnapped about 250 people in the October 7 attack, in which about 1,200 people were killed and most of them were civilians.

Hamas still holds about 110 people hostage, about a third of whom are feared dead. The remaining people were released in exchange for Palestinians held hostage by Israel during the ceasefire in November last year. Israel has rescued a total of eight hostages. Hamas says that many hostages have been killed due to Israeli air strikes.

More than 40 thousand Palestinians have been killed
According to local health officials, more than 40 thousand Palestinians have been killed in Israel’s retaliatory attack, although they did not say how many of them were fighters. The US, Egypt and Qatar tried for several months to negotiate a deal under which the remaining hostages are to be released in exchange for a permanent ceasefire.
