Islamabad: Pakistan Police arrested Rauf Hasan, information secretary of jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), after raiding the party’s central secretariat on Monday. It was initially reported that PTI chairman Gauhar Ali Khan was also arrested. However, party spokesperson Zulfi Bukhari dismissed the news of Khan’s arrest, while confirming Hasan’s arrest. It is not clear what the charges are against Hasan. Rauf Hasan was also attacked by unknown persons a few weeks ago, injuring his face.
‘Police making a mockery of the law’
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf condemned Hasan’s arrest and criticized the Islamabad police in a post on ‘X’. The party said, “It is completely shameful that the Islamabad Police is completely making a mockery of and disregarding every law of this country.” PTI leader Khurram Sher Zaman claimed that policemen were seizing documents and equipment from the party office.
Action taken earlier too
Let us tell you that earlier, Pakistani intelligence agency ISI had taken action against Imran Khan’s party and arrested four senior members of his media team on Saturday. After the arrest of the four members, Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party had said in a statement, “International media coordinator Ahmed Janjua and three other members of the social media team were ‘abducted’.” After this incident, senior PTI leader Zulfi Bukhari had said, “Due to the constant international reporting of all the atrocities happening in Pakistan, now my team is being kidnapped along with others.
