Terrorist organization “ISIS” became dreaded again, attacks on Iraq and Syria intensified; “US Central Command” gave the report

Baghdad: The terrorist group Islamic State has again strengthened its organization many times more. America’s ‘US Central Command’ said on Wednesday that IS is trying to raise its head again, as the number of attacks in Syria and Iraq is close to double compared to last year. ‘CENTCOM’ said in a statement that the Islamic State has claimed responsibility for 153 attacks in both countries in the first six months of 2024. A US defense official said on the condition of confidentiality that the Islamic State was behind 121 attacks in Syria and Iraq in 2023.

‘CENTCOM’ said, “The increase in attacks shows that the Islamic State is trying to raise its head again after several years of declining capacity.” This statement has been given after the completion of 10 years of Islamic State’s announcement of capturing large parts of Iraq and Syria. A coalition of more than 80 countries was formed under the leadership of the US to fight the Islamic State. The terrorist group lost control in Iraq in 2017 and in Syria in 2019.

Sleeper cells remained active despite losing control in Iraq and Syria

Despite losing control in Iraq and Syria, ISIS had put all its efforts to keep itself alive. Its ‘sleeper cells’ remained active in both the countries and abroad. Iraqi officials say that they can keep the threat of Islamic State under control along with their army and have held talks with the US with the aim of closing the mission of the US-led military coalition in Iraq. On Tuesday, officials of two Iraqi militias said that they carried out a drone attack targeting Ain al-Asad airport in Iraq. US officials have not yet commented on this.
