Air Traffic: 1.32 crore domestic air passengers flew in 30 days, this airline dominated in June

The number of domestic travelers is increasing continuously. According to data released by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Tuesday, India’s domestic air passenger traffic grew 5.76 percent to 1.32 crore in June, while it was 1.24 crore in the same month last year. According to PTI news, monthly data from aviation regulator DGCA showed that during June, budget airline IndiGo carried 80.86 lakh passengers, giving it a market share of 60.5 percent, followed by Tata Group-operated Air India and Vistara, which carried 17.47 lakh and 12.84 lakh passengers respectively.

According to the news, according to the data of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, Air India’s market share during June was 13.1 percent, while Vistara’s was 9.6 percent. Vistara is a joint venture between Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines with a 51:49 percent stake. AIX Connect (formerly AirAsia India), which is also a part of the Tata Group, carried 7.70 lakh passengers last month, registering a market share of 5.8 percent.

According to the DGCA, the share of the three airlines of the Tata Group in the total domestic passenger traffic last month was 28.5 percent. DGCA data shows. At the same time, SpiceJet carried 7.02 lakh passengers, while Akasa Air, which is about to complete two years of its operations, carried 5.90 lakh passengers in the reporting month, accounting for 5.3 per cent and 4.4 per cent of the total domestic passenger traffic last month.

Highest on-time performance
According to DGCA, Akasa Air had the highest on-time performance with 79.5 per cent from four metro airports – Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad – during June 2024, while SpiceJet recorded the lowest OTP of 46.1 per cent among the seven major airlines in the country.
