Nvidia becomes the world’s most valuable company: leaves Microsoft behind, market cap reaches $3.34 trillion

American semiconductor chip maker Nvidia has overtaken Microsoft to become the world’s most valuable company. Shares of Nvidia Corp closed at $ 135.58 (about Rs 11,300) on Tuesday, June 18, with a rise of $ 4.60 (3.51%).

With this rise in shares, the market cap of the company has increased to 3.34 trillion dollars (about Rs 278 lakh crore). At the same time, the market cap of Microsoft is 3.32 trillion dollars (about 276 lakh crores). Microsoft shares closed down 0.45% at $446.34 on Tuesday.

Talking about the market cap of iPhone manufacturing company Apple, it is 3.29 trillion dollars (about Rs 274 lakh crore). On Tuesday, Apple’s shares closed at $ 214.29 with a fall of 1.10%. On June 5, Nvidia became the second most valuable company in the world by surpassing Apple.
Earlier on June 5, Nvidia had overtaken Apple to become the second most valuable company in the world. At that time, Nvidia’s market cap was $ 3.01 trillion (about Rs 251 lakh crore), Microsoft’s market cap was $ 3.15 trillion (about Rs 262 lakh crore) and Apple’s market cap was $ 3 trillion (about Rs 250 lakh crore).

Even in the year 2002, Nvidia’s market cap had reached ahead of Apple. At that time the market cap of both the companies was less than 10 billion dollars i.e. about Rs 83,000 crore. Five years later, in 2007, Apple launched the first iPhone, after which its market cap increased rapidly.
