Chandigarh, Goa, Delhi, Maharashtra and Karnataka are the best states in the country in terms of owning and living with electric vehicles. Chandigarh is at the number one position among these. In contrast, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand and Sikkim have been named among the worst states in this matter. It has been said for these states that it is difficult to maintain electric vehicles here. According to the news of Financial Express, this has been found in a study conducted by mapping company Heer Technology and SBD Automotive (consulting).

Chandigarh scores the highest
According to the news, in this study, states and union territories were ranked on the basis of EV adoption and charging infrastructure at the respective places. Chandigarh leads the country with an impressive score of 81.9. The Union Territory’s success can be attributed to its comprehensive zero emission vehicle deployment plan, which provides significant incentives for purchasing EVs and setting up charging infrastructure. This approach has led Chandigarh to not only top the list overall, but also have the highest number of chargers per electric vehicle, with 148 chargers serving a relatively small population of 179 EVs, the firm’s study said.

Here are the 10 Worst States for EVs

Uttar Pradesh has the largest EV fleet in the country, with 18,300 electric vehicles plying on its roads, the study says. In terms of fleet penetration, Rajasthan leads with the highest percentage of EVs in its vehicle population (percentage of EVs in total vehicles on the roads, and not just share of sales) at 0.049%.

What the study says about Delhi
The study says that Delhi has made great progress in expanding its EV infrastructure, earning the highest score for charger infrastructure access. With a charger every 12.5 km of road, Delhi ensures that EV drivers have easy access to charging facilities, eliminating a major barrier to widespread adoption of EVs – range anxiety, which means the fear of running out of battery charge before finding a charging station.

Chandigarh also leads in terms of chargers

Current Climate: The Best (and Worst) States To Buy An Electric Car
Chandigarh leads the states with a good number of chargers, with 148 chargers having an average power capacity of 46 kW, making it a model for other regions aiming to improve their charging infrastructure. The study covers light EVs (passenger cars, and two- and three-wheelers), but does not include electric buses or trucks. However, due to lack of adequate data, four states (Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura) and three union territories (Lakshadweep, Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir) could not be included in the study.
