The state of the box office presently finds itself in a lamentable condition. Virtually all the cinematic offerings presented last month have faltered in carving out a niche in the hearts of the audience. Concurrently, numerous productions have swiftly vacated the theaters upon their premiere. Presently, only two films, namely ‘Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan’ and ‘Maidan’, grace the silver screens, endeavoring to amuse the audience. Yet, their reception remains lackluster. Both these productions appear destined for a premature departure. Under such circumstances, let us delve into the box office performance of these films on Thursday.
The anticipation surrounding Bollywood’s Khiladi Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff’s action spectacle, ‘Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan’, was palpable. Alas, this cinematic endeavor has fallen short of the audience’s lofty expectations. Crafted under the meticulous direction of Ali Abbas Zafar, ‘Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan’ was brought to life with a staggering budget of Rs 350 crore. However, it has yet to breach the Rs 100 crore mark. While the film boasts remarkable performances by Akshay and Tiger, its narrative fails to captivate the masses. Despite a promising start in its inaugural week, the film’s box office performance has dwindled. Recent statistics indicate that the film amassed a mere Rs 20 lakh on its 29th day, bringing its total earnings to Rs 64.70 crore. Drawing inspiration from the remarkable journey of football coach Syed Abdul Rahim, who left an indelible mark on Indian history, this film sees Ajay Devgan portraying the role of the esteemed coach.
Turning our attention to ‘Maidan’, released amidst the festivities of Eid, the film struggled to garner substantial revenue at the box office. Merely Rs 40 lakh was accrued on its 29th day, amounting to a total business of Rs 50.20 crore.
