A bright red apple can be deadly

If you are going to the market and buying a completely red apple, then you need to be careful. To meet the increasing demand and to make the apple look red, chemicals are being mixed with the apple. Raw apples are ripened with a chemical called poisonous i.e. calcium carbide. On ripening this chemical, acetylene gas is released which causes a lot of harm to health. Traces of this chemical go into the apple and the apple ripens but it causes a lot of harm to the body. Apple ripened with this chemical can cause cancer in the body. Apart from this, if such an apple is eaten for a long time, then along with diabetes, the risk of organ damage also increases and there is swelling in the body. On the other hand, waxing is done on the apple to make it smooth. This is also dangerous for health. If you eat such an apple, then you will be surrounded by a lot of health problems.

The right way to buy and eat apples

FSSAI has made the public aware that apples should be checked before buying them. If there are black spots on the peel of the apple, then such an apple should not be bought. Such an apple may be ripened with chemicals. Do not buy completely red and smooth apples. Before eating the apple, wash it thoroughly by rubbing it. Clean the apple by rubbing it with hands or with the help of a cloth and only then should the apple be eaten. This will clean the waxing, chemicals and dirt on the apple.
