Ingredients for making semolina upma
Semolina- one cup, oil- 2 teaspoons, onion- 1, tomato-1, capsicum-1, carrot-1, beans- two to three, salt according to taste, coriander leaves
Ingredients for tempering semolina upma
1 teaspoon gram dal, 1 teaspoon mustard, 2 green chillies, 4-5 curry leaves
Method of making semolina upma
First step: To make upma, first turn on the gas and place a pan on it and add 1 teaspoon oil. Now add 1 cup semolina in it and fry it till it becomes light golden brown. When the semolina is fried, take it out in another plate and keep it aside.
Second step: Now again add one tablespoon butter or oil in that pan. Now temper it with 1 teaspoon gram dal, 1 teaspoon mustard and 4-5 curry leaves. After that add two green chillies and curry leaves in it. Now add finely chopped onion and fry till it becomes brown. When the semolina becomes golden brown, mix beans, carrots, capsicum and tomatoes together. Now fry the vegetables well till they are cooked. Now add salt as per taste. Now cover and cook for a few minutes.
Third step: When the vegetables are cooked well, add roasted semolina and mix. After some time, add hot water and let it cook again. Lastly, garnish the upma with finely chopped coriander. The tasty South Indian dish upma is ready to serve.
