If you eat Maharashtra’s chakli once, you will eat it again and again. It is very crunchy and spicy to eat. In Mumbai and Maharashtra, people definitely make this snack at home during Diwali. However, it is not necessary that this snack should be made only during the festival. If you feel like eating this chakli, then you can make this famous crispy snack of Maharashtra at your home anytime. So, let us tell you its simple recipe. It is easy to make and can be stored for many days.
Ingredients for making Chakli:
Rice – half kg, 250 grams gram dal, 150 grams moong dal, 150 grams urad dal, 2 teaspoons cumin powder, 2 teaspoons coriander powder, 2 teaspoons red chili powder, salt according to taste, oil for frying, chakli making machine
Method of making chakli
First step: To make chakli, first soak moong dal, rice, urad dal and chana dal separately overnight. Dry all of them in the sun in the morning. When all four are well dried, roast them on low flame till they turn golden. When they cool down, grind them coarsely in a mixer grinder.
Second step: Now take the coarsely ground mixture in a vessel and add cumin, coriander, red chili and salt according to taste and mix well. Now add little water to the flour and knead a hard dough. After that make dough balls and then prepare chakli by putting them in the mold and then keep them on a cotton cloth.
Third step: Now turn on the gas and place a pan on it and heat oil. When the oil becomes hot, put chakli in it and deep fry it. Now keep these chakli to cool. Now your chakli is ready. Keep it in an airtight container
