Issued circular
The Department of Education (DOE) on Wednesday issued a circular for admission in classes 9 to 10 in government and government-aided schools in Delhi, amid reports of students being denied admission due to non-provision of Aadhaar or bank account details. The circular said, no student will be denied admission after being allotted a school under the non-plan admission process, except if there are discrepancies in the relevant documents.
Age-appropriate admission
It further said that children up to Class 8 under the Right to Education Act (RTE) will be admitted to classes according to their age during the entire academic session. The circular also said that students will not be denied admission for not having Aadhaar or bank account. For students who were allotted schools during the previous cycles of non-plan admissions, the admission process should be completed by September 16, 2024.
Additionally, the criteria for admission to age-appropriate classes will not apply to students who have passed the previous class from a recognised school or board during the 2023-24 academic year. The Directorate of Education has also emphasised in the circular that transfers after mid-term examinations should be avoided but should be done by the Regional or District Grievance Redressal Committee in genuine cases.
