Washington: Astronomers have discovered a unique planet which is revolving around its sun in a strange way. It is revolving around the star in an elliptical manner. In which it is sometimes very close to its star and sometimes very far. Due to this, a big change in temperature is seen here. Here sometimes the temperature is very cold and sometimes very hot. Scientists believe that a different kind of world can be seen here. The name of this planet is TIC 241249530 b.
This exoplanet is orbiting a star about 1100 light years away from Earth. The star is one of a binary pair. Therefore the planet orbits the primary star. While the primary star orbits the other star. A study was published in the journal Nature on Wednesday. In this, the researchers said that due to the connection with two stars, this planet can become a ‘hot Jupiter’. Astronomers have found more than 5600 exoplanets and 300 to 500 of them are ‘hot Jupiters’.
The planet comes close to its star
These planets are called hot Jupiters because they are huge gaseous bodies like Jupiter. They orbit their stars closely, which heats them to scorching temperatures. Jupiter in our solar system takes 4000 Earth days to complete one orbit around the Sun. At the same time, hot Jupiter completes one orbit of its star every few days. Scientists believe that large planets begin orbiting their star from a distance, but come closer over time. Scientists are questioning how such huge planets come so close to their star, which is less than the distance between Mercury and our Sun.
Planet five times larger than Jupiter
NASA’s exoplanet finding satellite TESS discovered it in 2020. On January 12, 2020, TESS collected data that showed that something had passed in front of the host star, TIC 241249530. TESS detects dips in the starlight, indicating the presence of an exoplanet. Radial velocity data also confirmed the planet’s presence, and researchers found that it was about five times more massive than Jupiter.
