BSNL has announced to give 4G, 5G ready SIM cards with special technology to its users. The government telecom company said that users will be issued 4G, 5G ready over-the-air (OTA) and universal SIM (USIM) cards, which they can activate anywhere. Also, users will be given the freedom to choose their mobile number.
SIM cards with new technology
Old customers of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited will also be able to replace their SIM cards without any geographical scope. BSNL said that the platform of this special SIM card technology has been developed in collaboration with Pyro Holdings.
BSNL said that the new 4G and 5G compatible platform has been designed for all BSNL customers in the country. This platform will work to provide better connectivity and service quality. The company is gradually rolling out 4G service across the country and is also working on 5G network soon.
Upgrade to 4G/5G
The government telecom company issued a statement saying that network upgrade work is currently being done. With 4G and 5G, the company has been a pioneer in telecommunication innovation in the country. This will prove to be a major milestone, which will keep the people of villages and remote areas connected with advanced telecommunication services.
Recently, Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said that BSNL will install 80 thousand mobile towers to improve 4G service across the country by October 2024. The remaining 21 thousand towers will be installed by March 2025.
Recently, the Union Minister connected a video call using BSNL’s 5G service. Jyotiraditya Scindia shared a video of this from his social media handle. BSNL will soon launch 5G service along with 4G. BSNL has started testing 5G service. The company is using only equipment made in India in its network upgrade.
