India has created a new record in terms of internet, in one year, more users were added than the population of Thailand and UK.

There has been a tremendous increase in the number of internet users in India. In the last one year, along with mobile, the number of broadband users has also increased a lot. Within a year, more new internet users have been added in India than the population of UK and Thailand. The population of these two countries is 6.9 crore and 7.1 crore respectively. According to the new report of TRAI, 7.3 crore internet subscribers have been added in India in the last one year. At the same time, a new record has also been made regarding broadband subscribers in the country.

Increase in the number of internet users
From April last year to March this year, 7.8 crore broadband subscribers have been added in India. In this way, the total number of subscribers using internet in India has reached 119.9 crore. A growth of 8.9 percent has been seen in the number of internet users. At the same time, the number of broadband users has increased from 84.6 crores to 92.4 crores. According to the report, the reason for the increasing number of internet users is high speed mobile internet. At the same time, the reach of wired and wireless broadband has also reached tier-2 and tier-3 cities of the country.

The number of wireless data subscribers has also seen a good jump. According to this report, the number of wireless data subscribers has increased from 84.6 crores to 91.3 crores. There has also been a growth of 7.93 percent in this. Indian users used to consume 1,60,053 PB of data earlier, which is now consuming 1,94,774 PB of data. A growth of about 21.4 percent has also been recorded in this.

Number of telecom users

By June 30, 2024, the total number of broadband users in India has crossed 940.75 million i.e. 94 crores. With the increasing number of internet users, tele density has also reached 85.95 percent. Earlier, India’s tele density was 83.45 percent. A growth of 2.50 percent has been recorded in this. According to the TRAI report, in June 2024, 11.84 million i.e. 1.18 crore users had requested Mobile Number Portability (MNP). There has also been a tremendous increase in the number of users porting their numbers.
