Apple has released the iOS 17.6 update for millions of iPhone users around the world. With this new update, users are going to get many emergency features, including satellite connectivity. Since iPhone 14, the company has been offering satellite connectivity feature in emergency in every newly launched iPhone. This feature gives freedom to make calls even without internet and mobile network. However, this feature is region specific. That is, it works only in select countries like America and Canada.

Apple is also expanding its satellite connectivity feature to other countries of the world. With iOS 17.6, users will now start getting emergency satellite connectivity feature in Japan as well. With the iOS 17.6 update, users will be able to use this feature in eligible devices. This emergency feature in Apple’s iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 series can now be used in Japan as well.

In the recently held WWDC i.e. World Wide Developers Conference, the company announced iOS 18. This new operating system will be launched with the iPhone 16 series to be launched next month. This operating system is currently being tested with developers and beta users. In the new iOS 18, users will also get Apple Intelligence equipped with AI feature.

Launched in November 2022, this satellite connectivity feature was first rolled out in the US and Canada. After which this feature was released in Australia, Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland and UK. Now the name of Japan has also been added to the list of these countries.

With the new iOS 17.6 update, the company has upgraded the satellite connectivity feature. Also, many bugs of iPhone users have also been fixed. This emergency feature with satellite for iPhone users has not yet been rolled out in India. Apple is gradually introducing the facility of this emergency feature in many countries.
