You will be able to make UPI payments even without a bank account, know what is NPCI’s new delegated payment system

NPCI has prepared to upgrade the UPI service. On one hand, while the National Payment Corporation of India is working on biometric features like face unlock for UPI payments, on the other hand, NPCI is preparing to bring the delegated payment system. This delegated payment system will be beneficial for those who do not have their own bank account. The government also wants to make UPI accessible to those who do not have their own bank account.

At present, a bank account is required to use UPI service. UPI service cannot be activated without a bank account. UPI service can be availed due to the mobile number and Aadhaar card number of bank account holders being linked. Users install any UPI app on their phone and can avail the facility of digital payment by creating a UPI account through their mobile number. NPCI has now intensified the efforts to make UPI service available to those who do not have their own bank account.

What is Delegated Payment System?

According to a report, NPCI is going to start the Delegated Payment System soon. In this, other members of the family will also be able to use the same UPI account. In this, even if any other member of the family does not have a bank account, they will still be able to make UPI payments. In simple words, if any one member of the family has a bank account and UPI service is being used, then other members of the family will also be able to use the same UPI account in their phones, that is, many more UPI accounts can be linked to a single bank account.

This new delegated payment system of UPI will work only on savings accounts. This service will not work on any credit card or other credit line. The family member whose bank account activates the UPI service will have master access. If that person wants, he can give access to the UPI account to anyone else for payment.

How will it work?
When NPCI launches this service, UPI users may get a notification, in which the user will be asked to set up his savings account for UPI for someone else. If the user wants to activate this service, he can accept this notification of NPCI.

However, a verification process can also be set for this, after completing which the delegated payment system will be activated. However, NPCI has not yet made any official announcement regarding this system. Also, it has not been told how many transactions users can do in a month from their UPI account. It is being said that after the launch of this payment system, there can be an increase of 25 to 30 percent in UPI payments.
