Attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh, people in America protested, said ‘Biden should not remain a mute spectator’

Houston: Hindus have been targeted during the change of power in Bangladesh. Hindus have been targeted and their business establishments have also been damaged. Protests have also been held in the US against the attacks on Hindus and other minority communities in Bangladesh. In this sequence, more than 300 Indian-Americans and Bangladeshi Hindus gathered at Sugar Land City Hall in Houston. The protesters appealed to US President Joe Biden to take immediate and decisive steps to stop atrocities against minorities in Bangladesh and protect vulnerable communities.

‘Hindus be vigilant’

The recent increase in incidents of violence against Hindu communities has become a serious threat to peace and stability in the region. The organizers of the demonstration demanded immediate security of all religious minorities in Bangladesh and urged the Biden administration not to remain a mute spectator during these heinous crimes against humanity. The organisers encouraged Bangladeshi Hindus to remain vigilant, monitor the latest situation and take necessary steps together in case of any emergency.

‘Perpetrators must be punished’
The ‘Save Hindus in Bangladesh’ protest was organised by the Global Voice for Bangladesh Minorities, an umbrella organisation representing major Hindu groups in Houston, including Maitree, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) of America, HinduAction, Hindupact, Houston Durgabari Society, ISKCON, Global Kashmiri Pandit Diaspora and many others. Addressing the crowd, Achalesh Amar, one of the speakers representing VHP of America and Hindu Action, said, “We strongly condemn the attack on the Hindu community for their pluralistic faith. We stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Bangladesh. We demand the Bangladesh government to take immediate action to bring the perpetrators to justice and ensure the safety of citizens of every religion.”
