Washington: Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) director Christopher Ray told lawmakers on Wednesday that the laptop recovered from the accused of attacking former President Donald Trump has revealed that before carrying out the incident, he had searched on Google, “How far was Oswald, who killed Kennedy, standing?” He told that Oswald is actually a reference to Lee Harvey Oswald, who killed then President John F. Kennedy in Dallas on 22 November 1963.
What did Christopher Ray say?
Christopher Ray told during a hearing before the House Judiciary Committee that Thomas Matthew Crooks, who fired a gun at Trump’s rally, had clearly tried to get this information on Google on July 6. He told that Crooks carried out the shooting incident on Republican Party’s presidential candidate Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, a week after this.
The motive behind the attack is not known
The FBI is investigating the firing on Trump as a case of terrorism, in which one person attending the rally was killed and two others were seriously injured. The agency has also prepared a detailed timeline of Crooks’ activities and online activity. Ray said that the motive behind why Republican presidential candidate Trump was targeted is not yet known. The FBI still believes that Crooks carried out this attack alone.
Visited the rally site
According to the information, Crooks visited the rally site a week before the incident and stayed there for about 20 minutes. Ray said that more than 2 hours before the shooting, Crooks flew a drone about 200 yards from the rally platform for about 11 minutes. He also used the device to view livestreams and footage.
