We kept saying this but people were not understanding it… I started putting the Constitution forward and whatever I said, suddenly burst out… Poor India,
oppressed India, which understood that if the Constitution is over, the whole game will be over… Poor people understood deeply that this is a fight between those who protect the Constitution and those who destroy it… The issue of caste census also became big… These things suddenly started coming together… I don’t think the BJP would have been close to 246 in a fair election. They had a huge financial advantage. They had closed our bank accounts… The Election Commission was doing what they wanted. The whole campaign was built in such a way that Let Narendra Modi do his work across the country. The states where he was weak were designed differently from the states where he was strong. I don’t see this as a free election. I see it as a controlled election.”
