Batting first, USA scored 115 runs in 18.5 overs, in reply, England won the match by scoring 117 runs without any loss in just 9.4 overs and became the first team to reach the semi-finals. For England, Butler scored an unbeaten 83 off 38 balls with the help of six fours and seven sixes and Phil Salt scored 25 runs off 21 balls with the help of two fours.

With this thumping win, England’s team has reached the top of Group Two of the Super Eight stage with four points with two wins and one loss in three matches. England’s net run rate became +1.992 which is better than South Africa and West Indies. The US team, which performed brilliantly in the group stage, had a disappointing performance in the Super Eight and the team lost all three of its matches and was eliminated from the tournament.
