Maiduguri: Boko Haram is terrorizing Nigeria. Boko Haram terrorists have wreaked havoc in northeastern Nigeria. Local residents claimed on Wednesday that terrorists opened fire in the market, worshippers and people’s homes, killing at least 100 villagers. Yobe Police spokesman Dungus Abdul Karim said that on Sunday evening more than 50 terrorists entered the Tarmuwa Council area of Yobe province on motorcycles and started firing before setting fire to buildings.
34 people from the same village killed
Yobe Deputy Governor Idi Barde Gubana put the death toll in Sunday’s attack at 34. Community leader Jana Umar said that the 34 people the Deputy Governor has told about as killed in the attack are from the same village. He said that so far 102 villagers have been confirmed dead in the attack. He said that most of the people were either buried before the arrival of the officials or their bodies were taken to other places for burial.
Many people are missing
Umar said, “We are still searching for people as many people are still missing.” The attack on Sunday is one of the deadliest attacks in Yobe last year. Local media reported that the terrorists took responsibility for the attack and said that this attack was done in retaliation for the villagers informing the security personnel about their activities.
