Holmes said it was not known whether the person flying the helicopter had a pilot license or whether he worked for Nautilus Aviation, the company that owned the helicopter.

Holmes said, “There is no danger now and we believe this was an isolated incident.” Nautilus Aviation said in a written statement that the helicopter had flown “unauthorized” but no further details would be given. Cairns Airport Chief Executive Officer Richard Barker said initial findings showed “no lapses in airport security or procedures.”
