Kathmandu: Many people who went missing after being hit by a massive landslide in Nepal last week have still not been found. In such a situation, on the appeal of the Nepal government, a team of 12 members has been sent to Kathmandu, which will search for the missing people. Let us tell you that after the landslide that happened a few days ago, the passengers of two buses were swept away in the overflowing river. 12 Indian rescue workers also joined the teams of Nepali security forces on Sunday to help in the search for the missing people. On the request of Nepal, the Indian rescue team of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) reached Chitwan in Bagmati province on Saturday. There were seven Indian citizens in a bus, out of which the bodies of three have been recovered so far.
On July 12, Nepal had sought help from India to search for the buses that were swept away in the Trishuli river due to the landslide. According to ‘The Kathmandu Post’ newspaper, the Indian team began the search operation on Sunday morning. At least 19 bodies have been recovered since the two buses carrying 65 passengers were swept away into the Trishuli river after being hit by a landslide on the Narayanghat-Muglin road section. Three passengers managed to get out of the bus and swam to the shore. The Indian team, equipped with necessary equipment including three sonar cameras, includes four divers.
Nepali Army also engaged in search
Several rescue and search teams of the Nepali Army, police and Armed Police Force (APF) have been searching for the wreckage of the buses and passengers since the day of the incident, but have had little success so far. The bodies of the passengers on both the buses drifted for 100 km in the Trishuli river. Out of the 62 passengers who were swept away with the buses, the bodies of 24 have been recovered from various places in Nepal and India. However, only 15 bodies have been confirmed to be those of the passengers on board the bus. Sources said that at least four of the bodies recovered belonged to Indians.
