‘One tree in the name of mother’, PM Modi’s plantation campaign superhit in America

Houston (USA): PM Modi’s ‘One tree in the name of mother’ campaign is getting tremendous support in Houston, America. To involve the expatriate community in the initiative to save the environment, the Indian Mission located here has organized several programs under the plantation campaign started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In such a situation, this campaign seems to be a superhit here. The Indian Consulate General organized these programs in the month of July in collaboration with various community and cultural organizations.

Let us tell you that the ‘One tree in the name of mother’ campaign launched by Prime Minister Modi on World Environment Day (June 5) this year aims to plant 80 crore trees by September 2024 and one billion 40 crore trees by March 2025 with the collective efforts of the government and society in India. The Prime Minister urged all the people in India and around the world to plant a tree as a tribute to nature. The Consulate organized several plantation programs and a painting competition. These events were attended by the local community and the Indian diaspora and emphasised the importance of environmental conservation and working together.

The Consulate organised a tree plantation drive at six places in collaboration with students and the Indian American community. On the occasion, a painting competition was also organised on the theme of ‘Hashtag’ Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam in which children participated enthusiastically. Consul General D C Manjunath told PTI Bhasha that through these events, the Indian Mission encourages the local community and diaspora groups to join these initiatives and contribute to environmental conservation.
