US bans 4 Chinese companies for supporting Pakistan’s missile program, Beijing restless

Washington: The US has taken major action against China for supplying material to Pakistan’s missile program. The US has banned 4 Chinese companies and a Pakistani company, including an individual, for supplying goods to Pakistan’s ballistic missile program under missile sanctions laws. US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said in a statement that the US has imposed sanctions on the Beijing Research Institute of Automation for Machine Building Industry (RIAMB) under missile sanctions laws, which has worked with Pakistan’s National Development Complex (NDC).

The statement said that the Beijing Research Institute had worked with the NDC in the development and production of Pakistan’s long-range ballistic missiles to purchase equipment for testing large-diameter rocket motors, including Shaheen-3 and Ababil. “The United States is imposing sanctions on three PRC-based entities, a PRC individual, and a Pakistani entity for ballistic missile proliferation activities. The PRC-based companies include Hubei Huachangda Intelligent Equipment Co., Universal Enterprise Ltd. and Xi’an Longde Technology Development Co. Ltd. (aka Lontech); PRC individual Luo Dongmei (aka Steed Luo). The department has also imposed sanctions on Pakistan-based entity Innovative Equipment under missile sanctions laws, the statement said.

The US had similarly imposed sanctions on three China-based companies for supplying missile-qualified items to Pakistan in October 2023 last year. The US State Department approved sanctions on General Technology Limited, Beijing Luo Luo Technology Development Co. Ltd. and Changzhou Utech Composites Co. Ltd.
